Onward and upward...or something like that. I've learned a little bit in my venture into blogging. Most of all, I really like sharing stuff...ok, maybe I just like hearing myself talk. I've also learned that I don't spend near as much time as I'd like crafting, but that I do spend a lot of time doing other stuff...home improvements, yard work, life.

SO, I'm going to try something. It's spring after all, the beginning of so many new things. Not a craft-blog, not a mommy-blog or a home decoration blog, but somewhere in between all of those. And I might change it again, I've been known to be a little in-decisive, but for now here we go:

Please come see me at oscarandkatie.blogspot.com

Happy Spring!

scraps

Fabric scrap cards...more scraps that I just couldn't get rid of, but really I have to do something about the scraps before I need ANOTHER scrap basket!

I'm still loving the textured card stock for cards, the texture gives such a great background for a simple center piece. Each card is just one piece of fabric, frayed at the edges, and a button, or other embellishment.

These 4 are off to be wrapped for a Valentine's gift, and I'm headed back out to the studio to enjoy a very rainy afternoon.

Robot

The kids have certainly been working on more art projects than I have lately. J did this one with a soup can, wine corks and craft supplies. All with his own imagination, it is GREAT!

A few little cards.

Every once in awhile the realization hits of exactly how long I've had some of my supplies. I bought these foam stickers when I volunteered to help on my son's preschool scrapbook. He was 2, now he's 6.

So, I did a little set of cards and gift tags, very simple, a little modern and they turned out pretty cute.

moving...kind of.

I moved back into the studio this weekend. About the time I started working on the spider costume at Halloween I started moving, sewing maching, serger, fabric and craft supplies into the house. Then it got cold here, really cold, in the teens...maybe not so cold to some of you, but COLD for here, and with no insulation in the celing, and only electric heaters the studio was COLD! So around Christmas I moved MORE craft stuff into the house. After a few months of taking over the dining room table it was time to move back out (not to mention really mild temperatures, at 50 degrees those little electric heaters keep it pretty cozy out there).

But boy did I have a mess: putting away all of the stuff from in the house was one thing, but SO much stuff piled up out there (open door, stack on table, close door). And the spiders moved in, so had to spend a bit of time kicking them back outside.

Here's where I was this morning, after 1/2 of a days work yesterday.

And here is the sewing area and kids area after today. The kids have their toy and art area, which I try to keep separate from my "clean" areas, I love it when they are out there working on projects with me :)

This week I'm hoping to tackle my mixed media art area...more pictures to come!

I can't tell you how much I'm loving the winter months with nothing major looming. I know spring and yardwork will be here soon, but for now...let it rain, I'm happy inside!
